A Day in the Life of a Foreman

As a Fence Installation Foreman, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful completion of various fencing projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality, efficiency and customer satisfaction.

You’ll wake up early every workday, excited to join the team, dig deep, and deliver quality work. Our workday begins promptly at 6:30 am. You will take your work order for the day and begin organizing and leading your team to carry out the work order. Each job will be done at a different location, but the day will always begin and end at our shop in Saraland, AL.

Every new job comes with new plans, specifications, and specific client expectations. You will need to design your equipment to operate efficiently and safely. Ensuring the safety of your crew is of utmost importance. Leading the team to efficient completion of work is your second priority. You will also be asked to ensure that the documentation is submitted on time. You always interact courteously and respectfully with our customers. He works efficiently and with attention to detail, leaving each client satisfied with the quality of work and overall experience. You are service oriented and get great satisfaction from a job well done!

General Knowledge/Skills/Job Qualifications Required:

• Previous experience in fencing installation, ideally in a supervisory or leadership role, with a solid knowledge of different fencing types, materials, tools and techniques.
• Strong leadership skills with excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
• Solid knowledge of safety standards and procedures, with the ability to identify and mitigate potential risks in the workplace.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate installation.
• Flexibility to accommodate different work schedules, including occasional weekends and overtime, to meet project requirements.
• Physical strength and endurance to perform manual labor, often in challenging weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service and the ability to effectively resolve conflicts or complaints in a professional manner.

• Using augers and excavators to dig holes in fences
• Using a Gasoline Post Driver to Drive Fence Posts
• Using a hollow core drill to drill concrete
• Use of power tools (hand saw, band saw, reciprocating saw, drills, etc.)
• Must be able to lift and carry 80 pounds. like concrete and wood.
• Installation of multiple types of fences including wire, vinyl, wood and aluminum fences.
• Good work ethic and must be on time.

Responsibilities:

• As a Fence Installation Foreman, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful completion of various fencing projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality, efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• The Foreman is responsible for leading the team in producing quality fence construction alongside team members, ensuring all work is completed in accordance with industry standards and company guidelines.
• Train and coach a team of fence installers, providing guidance and support to improve their skills, knowledge and workmanship.
• Communicates daily with production team regarding workplace layout, work changes, schedule, customer concerns, etc.
• Leads the team by taking initiative, delegating tasks to increase productivity, teaching job knowledge and skills to others, and always maintaining professionalism.
• Ensures company truck is operational and in compliance with federal, state and local laws.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, implementing measures to minimize risks and accidents within the installation team.
• Conduct periodic inspections of completed job sites and facilities to ensure compliance with design specifications and meet customer expectations.
• Resolve any installation-related issues or concerns promptly, working closely with customers to provide exceptional service and resolve conflicts or complaints effectively.
• Maintain accurate documentation of installation activities, including project status, material usage, and any customer communications, to facilitate effective project management and future references.
• This position has no supervisory responsibilities but supervises and influences the work of others.

Requirements:

Typical start/end time: 6:30am–5pm with a 30-minute lunch break

Installer

JOB TYPE

A Day in the Life of a Fence Installer

As an installer at Major League Fencing, you wake up bright and early each workday, excited to join the crew, dig in, and deliver quality work. Our workday begins promptly at 6:30 am at our shop in Saraland, AL. You’ll take directions from the crew leader, start by loading the truck and securing the load, then travel to the job site.

Every job is unique, with different locations, plans, specs, and customer-specific expectations. The ability to follow directions and adapt to different situations is paramount to ensuring we meet our high standards and customer satisfaction. Each day will begin and end at Major League Fencing’s shop, ready for the next project.

Description

This is a full-time position with growth potential. Experience is required. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Daily duties include assisting the Lead Fence Installer with fence installation, loading and unloading materials, tools, and equipment, laying out materials and concrete, assembling and breaking down fencing structures, clearing fence lines, digging, setting up posts, and job site cleanup. You will work on building all types of commercial and residential fencing, including wood, aluminum, and chain-link.

Job Responsibilities:

• Load all parts, materials, and tools needed in the morning as directed by the crew leader
• Make sure water cooler is ready
• Make sure trailer load is strapped and secured
• Align posts using lines or by sighting and verify the vertical alignment of posts
• Dig and prepare post holes as directed by crew leader
• Carry materials from truck to fenceline
• Understand markings and follow requirements for underground utility safety prior to digging
• Perform job site cleanup throughout the job
• Cleaning up the shop, organizing materials, and inventory
• Cleaning and maintaining tools and vehicles
• Any other duties as may be assigned by management

• General knowledge of carpentry hand and power tools
• Know all your units of measurements and how to use a tape measure
• Ability to continuously lift and carry 80 lbs
• Ability to work outdoors in various conditions, including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold
• Ability and willingness to dig post holes and deck footings by hand when necessary
• Capable of understanding and carrying out verbal and written instructions
• Comply with all company policies and regulations
• Able to take direction well and work in a team environment
• Good communication and time management skills
• Excellent customer service skills to deal with clients

Helper

As an installation helper at Major League Fencing, you wake up early every workday, excited to join the team, dig in, and deliver quality work. Our workday begins promptly at 6:30 am at our store in Saraland, AL. You will receive instructions from the foreman, begin by loading the truck and securing the load, then travel to the job site.

Each job is unique, with different locations, plans, specifications, and specific client expectations. The ability to follow instructions and adapt to different situations is essential to ensure we meet our high standards and customer satisfaction. Each day will begin and end in the Major League Fencing workshop, ready for the next project.

Description

Daily duties include assisting the foreman and installer with fence installation, loading and unloading materials, tools and equipment, placing materials and concrete, assembling and tearing down fence structures, cleaning fences, digging, installing posts, and cleaning the job site. . You will work on the construction of all types of commercial and residential fences, including wood, aluminum, and chain link fences.

Job Responsibilities:

• Load all necessary parts, materials and tools in the morning as directed by the team leader.
• Make sure the water cooler is ready
• Make sure trailer cargo is tied down and secured
• Align the posts using lines or pointing and check the vertical alignment of the posts.
• Dig and prepare post holes as directed by the team leader.
• Carry materials from the truck to the fence.
• Understand the markings and follow the safety requirements of underground utilities before digging.
• Clean the work site throughout the work.
• Clean the store, organize materials and inventory.
• Cleaning and maintenance of tools and vehicles.
• Any other duties that may be assigned by management
